..SEVERE THUNDERSTORM OUTBREAK EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS...
THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN KANSAS CITY MISSOURI IS FORECASTING
AN OUTBREAK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND TORNADOES THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT OVER MUCH OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS.
THE
STATES WHICH ARE MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THE BRUNT OF THE SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY INCLUDE
MUCH OF OKLAHOMA PARTS OF
NORTH TEXAS PARTS OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN KANSAS
A LOW
PRESSURE CENTER DEVELOPING OVER NORTHWEST TEXAS THIS MORNING WILL
INTENSIFY AND MOVE NORTHEAST INTO KANSAS TONIGHT. AT THE SAME TIME A
STRONG JET STREAM DISTURBANCE NOW OVER NEW MEXICO WILL SWEEP
NORTHEAST ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE PLAINS. THE COMBINATION OF
SOUTHERLY LOW-LEVEL WINDS AHEAD OF THE DEVELOPING LOW...ALONG WITH
INCREASING HIGH-LEVEL WESTERLY WINDS SUPPLIED BY THE JET
STREAM...WILL CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT FAVORABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF TEXAS...OKLAHOMA AND KANSAS.
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL RAPIDLY DEVELOP BY MID TO LATE AFTERNOON
NEAR THE DRY LINE IN WESTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST TEXAS AND BECOME
WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING. CONDITIONS IN THE
ATMOSPHERE ARE FAVORABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUPERCELL
THUNDERSTORMS ..CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS AND
TORNADOES.
ALL PERSONS IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO
REVIEW SAFETY RULES...AND LISTEN TO RADIO..TV..OR NOAA WEATHER RADIO
FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WATCHES OR WARNINGS. THIS IS A
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS WEATHER SITUATION FOR THE AFFECTED AREAS AND
SHOULD BE MONITORED CLOSELY.
