SERVICE KANSAS CITY MO 0400 AM CDT MONDAY 17 APRIL 1995
..SEVERE THUNDERSTORM OUTBREAK EXPECTED TODAY AND TONIGHT
OVER PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL PLAINS...LOWER MISSOURI
AND MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEYS.
THE STATES WHERE THE MOST ACTIVE
SEVERE WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR INCLUDE PARTS OF NORTHERN
TEXAS...MUCH OF OKLAHOMA...THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER OF KANSAS...MUCH OF
MISSOURI AND THE NORTHWEST QUARTER OF ARKANSAS.
A LOW
PRESSURE AREA CENTERED OVER SOUTHWESTERN COLORADO THIS MORNING IS
EXPECTED TO MOVE EASTWARD AND BE OVER NORTHWEST KANSAS BY EARLY THIS
EVENING. THIS WILL TAKE A COLD FRONT EASTWARD ACROSS
KANSAS..OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS
EVENING. THIS SCENARIO WILL STRENGTHEN THE LOW LEVEL WINDS BRINGING
VERY WARM AND UNSTABLE AIR NORTHWARD ACROSS TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA INTO
KANSAS AND MISSOURI. STRENGTHENING WINDS ALOFT WILL AID IN THE
DEVELOPMENT OF SOME TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACCOMPANIED
BY STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL.
OVERNIGHT THE
SURFACE LOW WILL CONTINUE DEEPENING AND TRACK NORTHEASTWARD INTO
NORTHWESTERN IOWA TAKING THE COLD FRONT TOWARD THE MISSISSIPPI
VALLEY AND SPREADING THE THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER TONIGHT OVER
SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS INTO MISSOURI AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS.
ALL
PERSONS IN THE THREATENED AREAS ARE URGED TO REVIEW SAFETY
RULES..AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO..TV OR NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR LATER
STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WATCHES OR WARNINGS BY NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE OFFICES. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR THE
AFFECTED AREAS AND SHOULD BE MONITORED CLOSELY.
