..SEVERE THUNDERSTORM OUTBREAK EXPECTED TODAY AND TONIGHT
OVER PORTIONS OF THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND THE WESTERN GREAT
LAKES..
THE
NATIONAL SEVERE STORMS FORECAST CENTER IN KANSAS CITY MISSOURI IS
FORECASTING AN OUTBREAK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND TORNADOES TODAY
AND TONIGHT ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND THE
WESTERN GREAT LAKES.
THE STATES WHERE THE MOST ACTIVE SEVERE
WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR INCLUDE MOST OF MINNESOTA..ALL OF
WISCONSIN..UPPER MICHIGAN..PARTS OF NORTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN AND
PARTS OF NORTHEASTERN IOWA.
A LOW PRESSURE AREA CENTERED
WEST OF ABERDEEN SOUTH DAKOTA THIS MORNING IS EXPECTED TO TRACK EAST
BY NORTHEAST TODAY AND END UP EARLY THIS EVENING WEST OF DULUTH
MINNESOTA. THIS LOW WILL DEEPEN AND WILL CAUSE STRENGTHENING LOW
LEVEL WINDS TO BRING VERY MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIR NORTHWARD INTO THE
UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND WESTERN GREAT LAKES. STRENGTHENING
WINDS ALOFT WILL AID IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND
TORNADOES.
OVERNIGHT THE SURFACE LOW WILL CONTINUE DEEPENING
AND TRACK EASTWARD INTO SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO AND THUS THE THREAT OF
SEVERE WEATHER WILL CONTINUE TONIGHT OVER EASTERN LAKE SUPERIOR AND
NORTHERN LAKE MICHIGAN AND SURROUNDING LAND AREAS.
ALL
PERSONS IN THE THREATENED AREAS ARE URGED TO REVIEW SAFETY
RULES..AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO..TV OR NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR LATER
STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WATCHES OR WARNINGS BY NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE OFFICES. THIS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR THE
AFFECTED AREAS AND RECREATIONAL MARINE INTERESTS AND SHOULD BE
MONITORED CLOSELY.
